You Will Be Respected As The Outgoing Leader; Ruto Tells Uhuru
Despite their political disagreements, President-elect William Ruto has guaranteed the departing President, Uhuru Kenyatta, of his deepest respect.
At a service of thanksgiving held on Sunday at the Gathiru-ini PCEA church in Kiambu county, Dr. Ruto thanked President Kenyatta for his role in the advancement of the country and promised that his administration would restart any projects that had been put on hold during the previous administration.
“We thank the president, Uhuru Kenyatta for his contribution to where the nation has reached up to now. And I want to assure him that he will have his respect as our leader so that we can reserve the nation’s respect and to ensure that all Kenyans unite moving forward,” said Ruto.
“All that we did together shall be use that as a foundation to see the nation moving forward and we shall correct what was done wrongly and all projects that are not complete we will start there even as we fashion the new projects we intend to bring into the country.”
The head of the UDA further pledged to serve the nation honorably, aware of the mandate left to him by the departing administration and the obligation Kenyans are counting on him to uphold.
“Because you have given us this opportunity I want to assure you that there is no part of the country which will be left behind by the leadership of the next government,” said Dr. Ruto.
The pledge from Ruto comes at a time when his opponent in the Azimio la Umoja alliance, Raila Odinga, has ignored his victory in the presidential election on August 9.
A petition contesting the IEBC results that named Ruto the winner will be filed by Odinga’s team before the supreme court.
