Within 30 days,We Will Look Into The Extent Of Croynism And State Capture; Ruto Insinuates On Prosecuting Uhuru Once President
After Uhuru backed Raila Odinga, the head of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, as his chosen successor, the pair, who no longer get along, recently exchanged jabs.
In his platform, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate promised to establish an investigation into suspected state capture by Uhuru and his allies if the Kenya Kwanza Alliance were to win the election.
“…Within 30 days, we shall establish a quasi-judicial public inquiry to look at the extent of cronyism and state capture in the nation and make recommendations,”
Additionally, Ruto declared that he would set up a tribunal to look into cases of forced disappearances and human rights abuses. This indicates that, despite the fact that he was neglected during their second term, he could be after the president with whom they had shared power for the past ten years.
Ndindi Nyoro, a Kiharu MP, repeated Ruto’s remarks, claiming that state capture has “strangled” Kenya’s economy. He asserted that the president had endorsed policies that benefited his companies by abusing his power.
“State capture has starngled our economy. The problem is that the president and his allies have over the last 10 years made policies and decisions to benefit his enterprise. Just like the Guptas in South Africa, everything has been choreographed to benefit the private businesses of those in power,” Nyoro said.
The DP said in May that he will initiate administrative and legal action to revoke the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) contracts.
The SGR project, which was supposed to make the port more effective and better and increase business and people’s fortunes along the coast, was allegedly hijacked, and the second in charge regretted it.
According to Ruto, the Kenyan government never intended to develop the SGR so that the coast would become destitute when it came to issues with the Mombasa port.
Some few people took hostage of the whole program and ended up with selfish programs that benefit a few people at the expense of the entire population of the coast people,” said Ruto.
