Wetangula’s Allowances As The Third Most Powerful Man In The Country
Moses Wetangula, the speaker of the national assembly, is now the third-highest ranking state official in Kenya, and his position comes with benefits.
Wetangula will now earn a gross income of Sh1,160,000 after being elected Speaker of the National Assembly on Thursday night, an increase from his prior pay of Sh710,000 while serving as a senator.
His base salary is set at Sh696,000, plus Sh250,000 in additional housing allowance and Sh24,000 in salary market adjustment.
The wage market adjustment is a compensation modification that takes into account market positioning as well as statutory and constitutional criteria for the revision of remuneration and benefits, claims the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Wetangula will also receive an official vehicle with a 3000cc maximum engine size.
Despite having an official car, he will also be allowed to purchase a car on his own thanks to a car loan of up to Sh10 million.
Wetangula will get a Sh25,000 monthly airtime allotment to assist him contact with coworkers and other people essential to his job.
The government shall provide the speaker with an official dwelling, as well as reasonable home utilities and attendants. Additionally, he has use of a Sh40 mortgage facility.
In addition, the inspector general of police will designate 5 cops to protect him and a chase vehicle to open the way for him.
Additionally, Wetangula will receive a higher fuel allowance than the other members of the house.
His office will be well-stocked with a legal advisor, researcher, media specialist, secretaries, and personal assistant, all of whom are paid for by tax dollars.
