“We Will Make A Petition” Ngirici Heads To Court Claiming She Is Not Bitter
In the recently concluded Kirinyaga Governor’s contest, independent candidate Wangui Ngirici stated that she will challenge Anne Waiguru’s victory.
Ngirici said that the gubernatorial elections were rigged and that “God is unveiling slowly by slowly what went down” while speaking during a church session on Sunday.
“I am not bitter with anybody, I am only going to follow through and make sure the will of the people will not be subverted. We are going to go on, we will make a petition,” she said.
The potential governor-elect stated that she has sufficient proof that almost 51,000 votes were rigged in Waiguru’s favor.
Ngirici urged fans not to feel sorry for her and expressed hope that God’s justice will be on her side.
“I want to tell my supporters to keep calm because I know this county supported me and people believe that there is democracy in Kenya, I also believe so. Let’s keep praying…. Don’t call me to say sorry, tell me Christ liveth,” Ngirici said.
The contest between Waiguru and Ngirici for governor of Kirinyaga was contentious, with both parties leveling claims of rigging. This even led the IEBC to conduct a second count of votes in one constituency.
IEBC announced Waiguru as the next governor on Friday after she received 113,088 votes, defeating Ngirici, who received 105,677.
