We Are In Talks With Lupita Nyong’o; Tourism CS Says On Plans To Market Kenya’s Tourism Industry Using Influencers
Peninah Malonza, Tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS), has stated that she intends to recruit the assistance of influencers and superstars in order to elevate the country’s tourism sector to global prominence.
The ministry, according to CS Malonza, is concentrated on marketing Kenya’s tourism culture and has already taken advantage of the majority of domestic advertising avenues, such as exhibitions, campaigns, and digital platforms.
On Citizen TV’s JKL show on Wednesday, CS Malonza stated that there is a need to venture into external marketing channels, which is made feasible by securing partnerships with international marketing agencies.
“We have the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) which is our marketing agency and they have continued reaching out to our traditional markets through exhibitions, promotional campaigns, and partnering with other agencies that market tourism in their countries,” said CS Malonza.
CS Malonza went on to say that in order to further realize the ministry’s agenda, they plan to work with young influencers and prominent people who will help place Kenya’s tourism on the global map.
In the same breath, she said she is already in talks with Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o about getting her on board with the ministry’s work plan, and she hopes she will join her team.
“We have moved into recruiting ambassadors for tourism in this country. We have realized that since the youth are 65% of the population we will use young ambassadors, the Miss tourism and Miss world,” she said.
“We are also going a notch higher to reach our influencers and heroes in the country like Eliud Kipchoge and I have also been trying to reach out to Lupita and I think we are at some engagement and I belive that soon she will come on board to market Kenya.”
