Wajackoyah Still Hopeful And Confident He Will Win The Elections
Prof. George Wajackoyah, the presidential candidate for the Roots Party, has professed confidence that he will win the position once the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) issues an official declaration on the matter.
Even though early results suggest that Raila Odinga and William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza have a sizable lead over David Mwaure of Wajackoyah and Agano party, the party is still certain that the pro-marijuana professor would be elected Kenya’s next president after vote tallying is complete.
“The first phase was exercised by the citizenry, the second phase by the IEBC, the body constitutionally mandated to tally the votes and announce a winner. We are confident that we will win through a fair, free and credible process,” said the party Secretary General Adam Kadernani in a statement on Saturday.
He likewise urged Kenyans to stay patient and maintain peace as they wait for the official announcement from IEBC, noting that they should not allow themselves to be divided by politics.
“Our presidential candidate Prof George Wajackoyah would like Kenyans to maintain peace and accord the IEBC the patience it deserves in tallying the votes. Our Candidate will address the Nation after the official announcement by IEBC. Keep peace, love your neighbor. Kenya is bigger than all of us,” said Kadernani.
Only a few hours after his Agano party rival Mwaure accepted defeat in the presidential race, the Roots Party released a statement.
Mwaure stated that the votes he had managed to win were far less than those of the front-runners in the race when he declared defeat.
Mwaure supports William Ruto, contending that the IEBC ought to nominate him for president because he has maintained a steady lead in the vote totals.
