“Utashindwa Tena” Bahati Warns Sifuna After Sifuna Suggesting He Stepped Down For ODM Candidate
The ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna has come under fire from gospel musician Kelvin Bahati for implying that he had dropped out of the campaign for the Mathare parliamentary seat.
Sifuna revealed earlier today, Monday, June 27, that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition had chosen Anthony Oluoch of the ODM as its favored candidate, eliminating Bahati from contention.
The musician, who was planning to run for the position on a Jubilee ticket, retaliated against Sifuna by claiming that the latter had been paid off by Oluoch to thwart his campaign.
Bahati urged Sifuna to concentrate on his senate campaign while maintaining that he was still in the race despite the coalition’s decision.
“You have already been given three million by my loosing opponent to lie that I have stepped down and “you” will offer me a job in the Azimio government. You want to give me a job as who? Stay away from Mathare politics and focus on your bid or you will lose again like in 2017,” Bahati said.
It appears that Oluoch, who was chosen during a combined conference of ODM and Jubilee delegates, will defeat Bahati, who had been chosen by the Jubilee Party to run for the seat.
Bahati will not, however, walk away from the Mathare contest empty-handed, according to ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, since he will land a lucrative position if Azimio wins the elections on August 9.
He said as part of the agreement at the delegate’s meeting earlier today, Mathare was named an ODM zone. “We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch, this young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk. I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government,” he said.
