Two Teachers Arrested For Assulting A Student After Failing To Score 400 Marks
Two teachers have been detained in connection with the alleged attack of a Class 8 student at Nyamninia Primary School in Yala, Siaya County, which resulted in a viral video.
The student, known as Bravin Ochido, is said to have been physically attacked by his teachers after failing to score 400 on the current mock exam.
Two teachers have been arrested as a result of the Ministry of Education’s investigations into the incident after the video went viral and caused public outrage.
Paul Osogo and Maurine Otieno, two teachers, are reportedly being held at the Yala Police Station where they are assisting with investigations.
According to Charles Chacha, commander of the Gem Sub-County Police, the 14-year-old child was allegedly assaulted by the two teachers for receiving subpar grades, and at least eight other students have also come forward with their accounts. A P-3 has also been investigated.
The two teachers will be charged with assault on Monday, according to the police chief.
