Gladys Shollei; Those Who Feel Elections Were Not Run Properly Should Resign And Stop Double Standards
Gladys Boss Shollei, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, has challenged leaders who believe that the 2022 August elections were rigged to quit and cease displaying double standards in their ideas.
Shollei noted on Citizen TV’s Daybreak Show on Monday that opposition leaders are blaming the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for allegedly doctoring presidential election results, despite the fact that they enjoy the positions to which they were elected through the same commission.
As a result, Shollei argued that if the leaders believe that the IEBC did not conduct a fair election, they should quit, stand for what they believe in, and stop using doublespeak.
“When they say that they feel the elections were botched and the current commission didn’t do a good job, these are elected in an election run by the same commission,” she said addressing Senators Dan Maanzo (Makueni) and Richard Onyonka (Kisii) who appeared in the same show.
“So they should first resign their positions because they must stand with what they believe that these elections were not properly run. But they are enjoying the fruits of the election run by the same commission. That is double speak and double standards.”
Shollei, who also serves as the Uasin Gishu Women representative, was replying to Senator Onyonka’s allegation that the electoral commission will always be compromised if the majority of members of the house nominate their favorite candidates for the commission.
