Those Are Fake Opinion Polls; Ruto Claims Raila Sponsored The Fake Polls
With 34 days till the August general election, recent polls indicate that the presidential candidate for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance is in second place to Raila. Speaking on Tuesday, July 5 in Isiolo County, Ruto asserted that his recently released manifesto is superior to that of Azimio la Umoja.
“Hawa watu tumewashinda na akili, tumewashinda na mpango, manifesto yetu inashinda yao. Tumewashida na kila kitu, sasa wamebaki tu na mambo mawili, wanatengeneza opinion poll ya ukora, wanasema sijui nani ako mbele.(These people we have defeated them in mind and plans, our manifesto is better than theirs. They have now resorted to creating fake opinion polls showing who is ahead of who),” William Ruto said.
Fake polls won’t help Raila win the August elections, according to Ruto, who is running for president for the first time.
“Sisi tunawambia wajeni opinion poll ya ukora, kura ni tarehe tisa mwezi wa nane hawa wananchi wataamua. (We are telling them to forget about opinion polls, Kenyans will decide on August 9)” Ruto added.
Further, Ruto charged that Raila intended to seize power against Kenyans’ will by utilizing the deep state.
He remained adamant, though, that he would not permit anyone to tamper with his votes and that he was prepared to defend each ballot that was placed in his basket.
“Do I look like a person whose election can be stolen? That is a dream,” Ruto said as the crowd cheered.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential contender expressed his views after recent polls showed the former prime minister to be ahead of him.
According to the Infotrak poll conducted on Wednesday, June 8, which was carried by TUKO.co.ke, Raila received 42% of Kenyans’ national support versus Ruto’s 38%.
CEO of Infotrak Research Angela Ambitho predicted that Raila will receive 9.3 million votes, closely followed by Ruto with 8.4 million.
The ODM leader was more popular than Ruto, according to a different survey released by Mizani Africa on Friday, June 10.
