This Is A Do Or Die Battle For Corruption Cartels, Raila Declares After Filling The Petition
Azimio la Umoja Corruption cartels have entered the Kenyan electoral system, according to one candidate for president in the alliance, Raila Odinga, who also warns them that their journey is coming to an end.
On Monday, during a speech to the country at the Kenya International Convention Center (KICC), Odinga said that electoral fraud resulted from the corruption cartels’ interference in the just ended elections.
Odinga claimed that the presidential petition contesting William Ruto’s victory will significantly help in sorting out the people connected to graft in what he called a “do or die battle.”
“This is a do or die battle for the corruption cartels who have everything to lose should the forces of democracy take over. The corruption cartels have prepared compromise electoral systems, bribe election officials, make security systems look other way. We believe that is what happened in this election,” noted Odinga.
The ODM leader also claimed that the cartels had meddled in the electoral process in an effort to influence candidates and election officials to submit to their control in a thinly veiled attack on his competitors.
“For the sake of the Kenya future, the corrupt network must not only be stopped but also be crashed. This attempted take over of the country in this election has not been an isolated phenomenon,” said Odinga.
“The election cartel has been intruding into our elections by not only financing specific candidates but also threatening candidates and election officials. They have suppressed the participation of voters who support rival political formations.”
Odinga was speaking at the venue shortly after submitting a presidential petition to contest William Ruto’s victory in the elections of August 9, which he has since deemed invalid.
