“They Will Be Cultivating Bhang”; Wajackoyah Promises To Abolish Boda Boda Sector Once Elected President
If elected president on August 9, George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party has stated that one of the first measures he will make is to outlaw the boda boda business. The boda boda industry, which currently supports one million direct jobs for riders earning KSh1 billion each day, will be eliminated, according to Wajackoyah’s government, he alleged.
Speaking at a gathering for his campaign on Saturday, June 26, Wajackoyah promised that, under his rule, boda boda riders will be given priority by providing them with jobs on marijuana fields.
The presidential candidate stated that boda boda drivers won’t need to stay in their current occupations, which have little room for advancement, if he wins office because his plan to legalize marijuana will generate a lot of money.
According to Wajackoyah, “They (boda boda riders) would be at the forefront of cultivating and exporting bhang to produce millions of dollars for the nation.”
He continued by implying that the sector will collapse during his administration since most Kenyans would be making enough money to live respectable lives and that the sector would thus be irrelevant.
“We shall not need boda bodas on our roads because there will be nobody to carry since most Kenyans will be millionaires with money we will generate through bhang exportation,” he said.
