The Real Truth Shall Be Known Starting Tomorrow; Raila Odinga Speaks On Starting Legal Procedure
The legal procedure to contest the outcomes of the general election for president on August 9 will begin on Monday, according to Raila Odinga, the head of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party.
On Sunday, Odinga said in a sermon at the Jesus Teaching Ministry church in Embakasi East, Nairobi, that he was confident he had won the presidential election and that he would not “reconcile” with his opponents until the court made its decision.
Supporters received assurances from the former prime minister that he would not budge until the Supreme Court issued a ruling.
While likening their quest as that of the Biblical David, Odinga said: “We will conquer them and capture all they have looted. This David will follow the David of the Bible. There’s no doubt in our minds that Kenyans spoke loudly on the 9th, that voice will not be muzzled.”
He added that they are sure they won the presidential race and that they will not “reconcile” with their rivals until the court rules on the matter.
“There will be no reconciliation until the truth is known. That truth we will show starting tomorrow,” he stated, “Our spirit will not be muzzled by looters and thieves. We stand with you, we will not be swayed or intimidated.”
“The truth shall set all of us free. Without justice there can be no lasting peace and all we are seeking is justice,” she said.
In response to allegations of staff intimidation by the IEBC, Mr. Musyoka denounced the postponement of gubernatorial elections in five electoral districts across the nation and referred to it as unfair treatment.
“What’s happening in Mombasa kakamega and the four constituencies, clearly tells Kenyans IEBC has short-changed the country, no general election has taken place. The only time you can postpone an election is if there is a general emergency, intimidation cannot stop the process,” he said.
