The Familly Of Brian Olunga Wants Justice For Their Son
The family of Brian Olunga, who was shot and killed on August 9 at the Chebukwabi voting place in Bungoma, wants the police to move more quickly with their inquiries.
The relatives of the late Olunga, a bodyguard for MP candidate Brian Khaemba, encouraged the authorities to examine everywhere while conducting their investigation in Samitsi village, Malava, Kakamega County.
Mzee Tobias Olunga, Brian Olunga’s father, characterized his late son as a diligent young man.
In 2019, the late Olunga completed his Form 4 studies.
Didmus Barasa, the newly elected member of parliament for Kimilili, is being held by police in connection with the shooting, though he has denied any knowledge of the gunshot’s alleged intentional killing of Olunga.
Even to him, according to Barasa, the details of that particular day are still hazy.
The legislator claims that numerous individuals, including the police, had weapons on the scene on the relevant day. He now wants all of these individuals to turn up their firearms so that they can be exposed to forensic examination.
Barasa will be detained at the Bungoma Police Station for arraignment on Monday, according to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
“Hon. Didmus Barasa, MP Kimilili, will spend the weekend at the Bungoma Police Station as ODPP deferred charges against him, to allow the Homicide detectives complete investigations. He will be presented in court on Monday, 15th Aug. 2022,” the ODPP said in a statement.
According to a police report obtained by Wananchi Reporting, the shooting happened when Khaemba visited the Chebukwabi polling place on August 9 at around 6 o’clock in the evening to observe the vote-counting procedure.
However, he ran into Barasa at the polling place, and after they got into a fight, he made the quick decision to leave.
While Barasa and four other men followed Khaemba as he made his way to his car, Barasa gave the order to the guys to prevent Khaemba from leaving.
Olunga allegedly came under fire from the lawmaker when Khaemba’s driver disobeyed Barasa’s command and set his car on fire. Olunga died from his wounds while being transported to the hospital.
The MP has refuted each and every accusation.
