Sport Pesa CEO Ronald Karauri Wins Kasarani MP Seat
Captain Ronald Karauri, the CEO of SportPesa, has been named the Kasarani Constituency’s next Member of Parliament after winning the elections on August 9.
At the constituency tallying center on Thursday, Karauri received his nomination certificate from Kasarani’s returning officer.
The CEO, running on an Independent ticket, received 32,406 votes, beating out John Kamau (30,444) and incumbent MP Mercy Gakuya (24,791).
The Captain stated that he will be open to cooperating with his rivals in his acceptance speech.
“If they have ideas, we welcome them. I doubt if they have better ideas than mine, but whatever they have is welcome. We have broken a record as first independent candidate to win an election in Nairobi. Kenyans are moving away from just electing parties,” Karauri said.
After failing to win the Jubilee Party candidacy during its party primary held in April 2022, he ran as an Independent candidate.
