Senator Osotsi; The Tribunal Decision On Irene Masit’s Removal Was Doctored
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi claims that the tribunal’s decision in the case of Independent Election and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Irene Masit was doctored.
This follows the announcement on Monday by the Aggrey Mucheule-led tribunal that the accusations of gross misconduct leveled against Commissioner Masit had been proven to the necessary standard and that she should be removed.
Masit agreed to a plan by Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya alliance agents to moderate the presidential election results and force a re-run, according to the tribunal.
Senator Osotsi argued on Citizen TV’s Daybreak Show on Tuesday that the verdict was predictable, alleging that the tribunal was acting at the request of the state.
“For us in Azimio we are not surprised, we did not expect a different result from what the so-called Muchelule-led tribunal has given. The whole process is drama and choreographed to generate the results it generated,” said Osotsi.
“You could see Ruto waiting in the wings to issue a gazette notice for the appointment of the IEBC panel. I think he was just waiting for that decision for him to appoint.”
The Vihiga Senator also claimed that Mucheule, former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula have family connections, proving that the decision could not have fallen any further from ousting commissioner Masit.
