Scandalous Criminal Gang Leader Shot Dead In Ruai
Police in Starehe, Nairobi, shot and killed a prominent gangster on Wednesday afternoon who was thought to be the boss of a criminal group operating out of Ruai and thought to be responsible for a number of violent incidents in the area.
Paul Murrell Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe precinct besieged Naomi alias Muruthi’s rental home in Ruai’s Githunguri neighborhood, leading to his demise.
According to reports, the detectives followed up on intelligence leads.
The DCI claims that during the operation, one of their operatives pretended to be a barter dealer known as “maree maree” and made their way to Muruthi’s house to see whether the wanted felon was there.
“Known for high level deception while smoking out hardened criminals, one of the detectives posing as a ‘mali mali’ dealer had approached the thug’s neighbourhood shouting mareeeee, mareeeeee! while carrying some basins and laundry baskets,” the DCI said in a statement.
“He then knocked on the thug’s door repeatedly until the miscreant unlatched the door halfway. Niukugura mare? (Will you buy mare?) posed the officer. Dikwenda na dugoke guku ringi! (I don’t want and don’t come back here!) retorted the thug as he banged the door.”
Having established that the suspected criminal was holed up in his home, officers went back a short while later to speak with the suspect.
Muruthi reportedly decided against answering his door and instead fired on the detectives through his window, prompting them to retaliate with lethal force.
“Moments later, the thug was subdued and the sleuths gained entry to the house, where his lifeless body was sprawled on the floor. A Ceska pistol serial number B 681256 loaded with four rounds of 9mm calibre was recovered, while 11 spent cartridges littered the scene,” said DCI.
The ceska pistol was taken from a registered civilian firearm owner a week ago, according to preliminary investigations, which also revealed that the victim had lost over Ksh. 500,000 worth of valuables in the incident.
Following the investigation of the crime scene by detectives, the deceased’s body was transported to City Mortuary.
