Sakaja Arrested By The DCI Agents In Realation To Alleged Forged Certificate
On Friday, June 17, Sakaja was apprehended by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at an undisclosed location in Nairobi.
According to reports, he was then driven to the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road for questioning. The reason for the arrest was not immediately clear, but reports suggested it was related to the alleged forged certificate.
His attorneys are said to be camped out in front of the DCI headquarters after being denied entry.
Prior to the arrest, the Nairobi Senator, who is running for the city’s gubernatorial seat, had a heated argument with the DCI’s director, George Kinoti, daring him to carry out the arrest.
According to Kinoti, Sakaja and administrators at Team University in Uganda are being investigated over the degree certificate.

Sakaja, according to the DCI chief, is being investigated for possible links to an international crime syndicate that forges documents.
Kipchumba Murkomen, an Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had authorized Sakaja’s arrest.
“President Kenyatta has ordered DCI to arrest Johnson Sakaja in the hope that it will help influence the case in the court and IEBC Dispute Committee.
“Sakaja has a degree and is qualified to run for office under the Constitution and the law. Stop the sideshows. Let the people decide,” Murkomen stated.
Sakaja had previously accused President Kenyatta of using his position to intimidate him as well as officials from Team University, where he received his degree.
“The purported revocation of my credentials by the CUE Chairman is null and void, and politically instigated. The Chairman, Professor Chacha Nyaigotti Chacha, has been coerced and intimidated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to illegally revoke recognition of accreditation that has been properly issued,” the Nairobi Senator stated.
