Raila Odinga Cast His Vote In Kibra As His Supporters Sing And Dance
At Old Kibra Primary School in the Kibra constituency, Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya presidential flagbearer, voted.
A massive mob gathered around Raila as he entered the polling place, blowing vuvuzelas and whistles as his motorcade entered the building.
Around 10:30 am, the ODM leader entered the polling place with his wife Mama Ida Odinga and several of his security personnel.
He was taken through the voting procedure by poll workers and authorities, who then left.
Ida, his wife, cast her ballot in a different stream at the same voting place.
Odinga said he is convinced he will win the election because Kenyans “spoke strongly in favor of democratic change” earlier before leaving his residence in Karen.
“We’ve done our best in terms of campaigns. Now the ball is in the people’s court and I’m confident the people of Kenya are going to speak loudly in favour of democratic change,” he said.
Meanwhile, Martha Karua, his running mate, voted in Gichugu early this morning.
William Ruto, Raila’s main competitor, and Rigathi Gachagua, his running mate candidate, have already voted in Sugoi and Mathira, respectively.
David Mwaure, his other rival, also participated in the election at Nairobi’s Upperhill High School.
The fourth candidate, George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party, will have to wait though, as the polling place where he was scheduled to cast his ballot reported a KIEMS kit failure and required voters to wait until the issue was rectified.
