President Elecr, Ruto Nominates Moses Wetangula As Speaker Of The National Assembly
The alliance co-principal and head of Ford Kenya, Moses Wetangula, has now been nominated for Speaker of the National Assembly by William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza party.
The declaration was made on Saturday during the alliance’s meeting in Karen, Nairobi, by Musalia Mudavadi, the leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party and a fellow Kenya Kwanza co-principal.
Wetangula was chosen for the role, as had been agreed upon prior to the August General Elections, according to Mudavadi.
“I have the singular honour and privilege on behalf of Kenya Kwanza to announce that we have unanimously agreed that the Speaker nominee for the National Assembly for the Kenya Kwanza coalition shall be Moses Masika Wetangula, Papa wa Roma,” said Mudavadi.
The outcome of the August polls results saw the Ford Kenya party chief scoop majority of the seats in his Bungoma backyard on top of successfully defending his Senate position.
“I told you that those coup plotters won’t push me from Ford-Kenya, I promised them that they must be defeated in these elections which has happened, their coup died on arrival,” Wetangula said after results declaration on August 12, 2022.
Wetangula and all the Kenya Kwanza leaders are considering power-sharing agreements if President-elect William Ruto is inaugurated after winning the August elections.
If Kenya Kwanza won the election, Mudavadi was guaranteed the position of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
