Political Drama As MP Snatches Aspirant Microphone At A Burial Ceremony
Aspiring MP for the West Mugirango Constituency, Steve Mogaka, has categorically denounced the acts of violence that took place on Tuesday at the interment of Mzee Mogaka Rira in Nyasore Village, Nyamaiya Area, in Nyamira County.
The aspiring MP encourages his rivals in the Kenya Kwanza camp to abstain from using violence during campaigns. He is running on a Jubilee party ticket under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party.
This comes after the dramatic episode on Tuesday when Mogaka’s opponent and the current MP Vincent Kemosi of the Ford Kenya party took the microphone away from him when he was speaking to the crowd.
In response to the scene that ensued, angry mourners are reported to have chased the congressman away.
Speaking to the media in Kisumu on Wednesday, Mogaka demanded that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) punish Kemosi severely for seeking to incite violence.
“I don’t know why Vincent Kemosi would make an attempt on my life, the decision of who is to be the MP for West Mugirago on the 9th of August rests on the people,” Mogaka said.
Calls to Kemosi were unanswered, making it impossible to get him to comment.
