Pastor From Mozambique Dies Trying To Fast Like Jesus
Francisco Barajah, a Mozambican preacher, died after attempting to fast for 40 days in the manner of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
The pastor, who was also the founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church in Mozambique, died at a hospital in Beira after being carried there in critical condition by his relatives and congregation.
Francisco had lost weight and was unable to walk or stand after 25 days without food or water.
Mr. Barajah was diagnosed with extreme anaemia and digestive organ failure.
He was rehydrated with serums, and liquid foods were tried, but it was too late, and he died on Wednesday.
Members of his church acknowledged that the pastor and his followers fasted frequently, but rarely for significant periods of time.
