Nixon Korir Accepts Defeat For Lang’ata MP Seat
current Lang’ata Member Nixon Korir has admitted defeat in the contest for the Lang’ata constituency.
The lawmaker, who was competing for reelection on a UDA ticket and was up against Felix Odiwor alias Jalang’o, who was running on an ODM ticket, conceded to him.
On Wednesday, Korir posted on social media to explain his capitulation, citing data from their individual tallies that he claimed demonstrated Jalang’o was assuming a commanding lead.
The final election results for the constituency have not yet been made public by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The lawmaker congratulated his opponent on winning and thanked his supporters and the residents of Lang’ata for giving him “an outlet to contribute to the people.”
“From the results that we’ve tallied at the Generali centre, my competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate his as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata,” Korir wrote on Facebook.
“To the people of Langata, I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. It’s been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation building and service to the people.”
Jalang’o of the ODM, Caroline Jepkemboi of Usawa kwa Wote, Thomas Awili of the Independent Party, Osman Abdulahi of the KANU, Cliff Aboki of Ford Asili, and Susan Odongo were Korir’s opponents (Independent).
