Nissan Rolls Killing 3 People And Leaving 14 Injured In Homabay County
On Sunday, August 21, early in the morning, a Nissan matatu on the Homa Bay-Rongo route crashed at the notorious Arujo Bridge in Homa Bay County.
14 other passengers sustained critical injuries and had to be airlifted to a neighboring hospital, while three people perished in the collision.
Witnesses report that the accident happened at 9:30 am.
“The matatu was trying to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle when it lost control and rolled several times off the road,” a witness said.
“Two individuals who were inside the matatu died on the scene, while another one died while being brought to the hospital,” Homa Bay County police commander Samson Ole Kinne said in regards to the accident.
A trailer and two Nissan Matatus were among the three cars that were simultaneously approaching the perilous bridge, according to one of the witnesses.
According to the police, the hurt people were taken urgently to the Homa Bay county Referral hospital.
