Nigeria Bans Use Of International Or Foreign Models In Adverts
The Nigerian advertising regulatory body, Advertising Regulatory Council Of Nigeria (ARCON), has imposed a permanent ban on the use of international models and voice actors in any kind of advertising targeted at the country’s domestic market, the Nigerian people.
The restriction, which goes into force in October, is anticipated to improve residents’ opportunities in the advertising sector.
The Council mandated that only Nigerian models and voice actors be used in “all commercials, advertising, and marketing communications materials targeted or exposed on the Nigerian advertising space.”
Dr. Olalekan Foladapo, Director General of ARCON, stated after the announcement that ongoing advertising campaigns would not be impacted by the policy and could continue to run their course.
