More Than 100 Petitions Filed Challenging The August Election Results
123 other candidates have submitted petitions to contest election outcomes for a variety of positions a week after the Supreme Court issued a significant decision regarding the Presidential Election Petition.
The Judiciary reported on Wednesday that 12 applications for the High Court had been submitted to question the results of the elections for governor, two for senator, four for woman representatives, and 28 for parliamentary elections.
Additionally, 77 petitions contesting the Member of County Assembly elections were submitted to the Magistrates Court.
The gubernatorial elections petitions include;
Busia County – Sakwa Bunyasi has challenged the election of Paul Otuoma.
Garissa County – Siyad Abdullahi and Hassan Adam have challenged Governor Nathif Jama’s election.
Tana River County – Hussein Dado has challenged the election of Governor Dhadho Gaddae Godhana.
Homabay County – Evans Kidero has challenged the election of Governor Gladys Wanga.
Kajiado County – Katoo Metito Judah and Pere Judy Neiyeiyo have challenged the election of Joseph Ole Lenku.
Kirinyaga County – Purity Wangui Ngirici AND Eliud Wanjao Ngige have challenged the election of Governor Anne Waiguru.
Makueni County – Patrick Musimba has challenged the election of Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior.
Kilifi County – Justin Ringa Chirume has challenged Gideon Mungaro’s election
Mombasa County – Dziwa Zuma and Suleiman Mwanguku have challenged Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s election.
Narok County – Moitalel Ole Kenta has challenged the election of Governor Patrick Ntutu.
Nyamira County – Dennis Omwenga Ayiera has challenged the election of Governor Amos Nyaribo.
In the Senatorial elections, Wasilwa Makhakara and Julius Ole Mokita have challenged the elections in Vihiga and Narok Counties respectively.
Additionally, petitioners have contested the results of the elections for women in the Garissa, Kisii, Kilifi, and Nyamira Counties.
28 petitioners, including former lawmakers Maoka Maore and Kimani Ngujiri of the Bahati party, who served as the Deputy Majority Chief Whip in the 12th Parliament, have contested the results of the Member of National Assembly elections.
