More Confusion On IEBC As Ballot Papers Meant For Meru Prisons Found In Kabarnet
After receiving the ballots intended for Meru prison in Meru County, Kabarnet polling station in Baringo County became perplexed on Tuesday.
However, the supplies were airlifted back to Meru.
By 1pm, the voting had started on both stations, according to Citizen Digital, and 46% of Kabarnet’s registered voters had already cast their ballots.
The presiding officials stated that they still anticipated a larger turnout.
Voting had not started by midday in Dadaab Constituency, Garissa County, and four polling places had not been unlocked.
The IEBC claimed that they are attempting to address the security issues in the region and that if a solution is not found today, the elections may take place tomorrow.
The commission stated that 200 machines exhibited technical issues regarding the failure of KIEMS kits. In Makueni and Kakamega Counties, manual voter registration was also authorized.
As of Tuesday midday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reported that 6,567,869 Kenyans have cast ballots.
In a news conference held in the Bomas of Kenya, the commission stated that just 30.65 percent of the anticipated total of 22,120,458 voters had cast ballots as of the time.
Under half of the total number of registered voters in Kenya had cast ballots by midday, which was six hours after polls opened and five hours before they closed.
