Modern Coast Bus Accident At Tharaka Nithi As Many Are Feared Dead
The death toll from Sunday’s collision between the Modern Coast bus they were riding in and the Tharaka Nithi bridge has increased to 30.
This comes after six additional bodies were pulled from the wreckage on Monday morning. As the second day of the search for additional bodies that may still be in the river began, the police said that 13 other people were in critical condition.
Nobert Komora, the county commissioner for Tharaka Nithi, stated on Sunday night that the injured were being treated at the hospitals in Chogoria and Chuka.
Before the 6:30 pm collision at the Tharaka Nithi bridge, the bus was reportedly transporting passengers from Maua to Mombasa.
The bus’s damaged wreckage was seen in several internet images and videos that were posted close to the famed Tharaka Nithi blackspot.
The river was home to some of the wreckage.
The bus probably lost brakes, struck an approaching car, and then fell 40 feet into the river below, according to police officers and rescue workers at the accident scene.
