Mike Sonko Receives A Warm Welcome As He Joins Kenya Kwanza Alliance
After failing to enter the Mombasa governor’s race, Sonko made the pivotal move on Saturday.
William Ruto, the presidential candidate for Kenya Kwanza, met him at his Karen home.
Before the deputy president revealed Sonko’s intention to join Kenya Kwanza, he was walled up in a private meeting with Ruto.
The happy DP Ruto posted pictures of their encounter, letting everyone know that the former Nairobi has a new home.
It is unknown if Sonko has also left the Wiper Party, where he was intending to run for office and is a life member.
“We are both focused to dethrone Governor Hassan Joho and the corruption that is besieging this county to ensure Mombasa gets the development it deserves,” Omar responded, arguing that his rival, ODM’s Abdulswamad Nassir is a state project.
“I was cleared alongside my Deputy Governor Ali Mbogo. The impeachment was for Sonko not for Mbogo. We are pleading with IEBC and the government to clear Ali Mbogo to vie as governor,” said Sonko in an interview on TV47 on Thursday.
He attributed his problems to Martha Karua, who he said had tried to persuade him to withdraw his bid.
