Man Pleads Guilty Of Stealing 57 Jerrycans Of Cooking Oil From Carrefour
Patrick Angote Andayi, a guy, has admitted to stealing 57 jerrycans of five-liter cooking oil worth Sh104,404 from the Carrefour Supermarket in Nairobi’s Village Market.
During his court appearance before Chief Magistrate Anne Mwangi in the Kibera Law Courts, the suspect admitted to the theft charges. According to court documents, Patrick stole the goods between June 5, 2022 and June 18, 2022.
Angote was detained after the security compliance officer set a trap for him following an audit he conducted at the supermarket and discovered some of the items were missing from the shelves.

In order to catch him, the security guards set up a trap. As he tried to leave the store, they followed him and requested to examine his bag.
He tried to flee but was caught. He was then searched, and two jerrycans holding five liters of cooking oil were discovered in his bag, which led to his detention.
He was brought to his home in Ruaka afterwards, where a thorough search resulted in the recovery of several stolen things.
Andayi also told the police where he had sold the cooking oil that he had stolen from the supermarket, and they were able to get the shopkeeper to give them the remaining oil.
