Man Allegedly Stabs His Mother To Death And Burns Her Body Beyond Recognition
A 27-year-old guy is being held by police in Nyando, Kisumu County on suspicion of murdering and setting his own mother on fire in the community of Migingo.
The deputy principal of Migingo Girls Secondary School, Ms. Roselyn Nyawanda, was allegedly murdered on Saturday, August 20, at her home inside the school’s grounds by Jeff Onyango Nyawada, according to a police report.
Stephen, Jeff’s brother, allegedly noticed there was a problem at the farm when he went to see his mother on Sunday night at around 8 o’clock.
“… his knocks went unanswered since it had been locked from inside. A few minutes later, he heard some movements from inside the house and after a while, Onyango opened the door. With apprehension exhibited all over his brother’s face, Stephen’s intuition told him that something was amiss,” police said in a report on Monday.
Later, Stephen was met by her mother’s burned-out body, which was found in the toilet.
Due to the discovery of a kitchen knife next to the deceased’s body, police suspect she was stabbed to death before being burned.
“They recovered paraffin in a mug and noted that the bathroom’s walls had been blackened with smudge soot. Also recovered from the scene was a kitchen knife beside the woman’s body and a lantern lamp with an open knob,” the report added.
In anticipation of an autopsy, the deceased’s body has since been transferred to a morgue located within the county.
