Linda Mama Registration: 9 Simple Steps
Find out more on Linda Mama registration in this article. We explain 9 simple steps to get you started and get covered.
Linda Mama is a government-sponsored program that was introduced by Her Excellence the First Lady Mama Margret Kenyatta under National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF). Linda Mama Programme was introduced in the year 2013 to offer free maternity to all mothers seeking maternity services and are Kenyan citizens. In 2016, the Linda Mama organization shifted responsibility to NHIF and expanded access beyond the public sector. Some hospitals in the private sector do offer the Linda Mama services, unlike the previous years where the services were offered only in public hospitals.
Any pregnant woman is allowed to access a free maternity program run by NHIF; hence, they can access all maternity services without paying any single cent.
The free maternity services include:
- Antenatal care – It caters for 4 antenatal visits
- Delivery – It covers both normal delivery and cesarean section (CS).
- Postnatal care – it caters for 4 postnatal visits.
Linda Mama covers cesarean section too which in this case is always considered costly and covers the child’s immunization services after birth.
A Linda Mama member will just walk into a hospital and be treated without worrying about hospital bills.
