Lee Njiru Supports UDA Candidate Against Raymond Moi In Rongai MP Race
Former press secretary for the late former president Daniel Arap Moi, Lee Njiru, has declared his support for Paul Chebor of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the upcoming Rongai Constituency Parliamentary elections.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Thursday in Ngata, Njiru claimed that the UDA political wave that was sweeping Nakuru County led him to change his support from incumbent MP Raymond Moi, who he had backed for the previous ten years.
Due to his extensive collaboration with the late retired Head of State, Njiru was widely believed to be a family ally of the Mois. However, he denied any intention of backing Raymond Moi in his bid for a third term in office.
In his bid to save his position, Raymond Moi will compete against Luca Kigen of CCM and Paul Chebor of UDA.
After his brother Gideon Moi was defeated by William Cheptumo in the race for the Baringo Senatorial seat, Raymond is the last of the Moi sons hoping to secure an elective seat in the 2022 General Election.
Monday will see the Rongai Constituency Parliamentary elections.
