Kipchumba Murkomen Retains The Elgeyo Marakwet Senate Seat
Marakwet Elgeyo After defeating the departing governor, Alex Tolgos, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has successfully defended his position.
Murkomen received 141,091 votes while standing as a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate.
Tolgos, on the other hand, ran for office as a member of the Jubilee Party and finished in a distant second place with only 20,648 votes.
Murkomen pledged to remain dependable and cooperate with all of the county’s elected representatives in a thank-you letter to the Elgeyo Marakwet people after being named senator-elect.
“In the many elections I have gone through, both at nomination and election levels, this is my best performance ever,” he said.
As of right now, Murkomen will work for Governor Wesley Rotich, who won the election with 147,705 votes.
The incumbent deputy governor, Rotich, won the election on a UDA ticket by defeating his primary rival, Anthony Chelimo, who received 11,759 votes.
