Kalonzo Respond On Claims Of Him Joining Kenya Kwanza
The leader of the Wiper Party, Kalonzo Musyoka, refuted suggestions that he may be one of President-elect William Ruto’s largest additions to the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
After a church service in Nairobi, Kalonzo spoke to the media and said he was focused on the legal action the Azimio la Umoja coalition is doing to contest the presidential election results.
“I think those are wishful thinkers and you know where we are going…. We are going straight to the Supreme Court,” Kalonzo said concerning claims that he is considering working with Ruto.
In response to criticism from the leaders of the Azimio la Umoja alliance, who accuse Ruto of luring their supporters into the Kenya Kwanza camp, Kalonzo made his statement.
On Friday, Martha Karua criticized Ruto for making agreements with groups that were affiliated with Azimio and referred to it as a violation of the law.
“So for the DP to start wooing people and enticing them to leave a coalition without the requisite legal provision is either a display of impunity or gross ignorance of the law of the land, I think knowing him, his true colours are showing lack of respect for the rule of law and deficit of democracy in his actions,” Karua said.
Kalonzo continued to criticize the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the way the election was handled throughout the church service on Sunday.
“I have vied for elections many times in our country, and I have never seen a situation where the body charged with the responsibility of conducting a General Election ends up short changing the whole country,” he said.
