Justina Wamae Congratulates President Elect, William Ruto And Offers To Work With Him
Five days after William Ruto was proclaimed the winner of the presidential election by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Justina Wamae, the vice presidential candidate for the Roots Party, congratulated him (IEBC).
In a message made public on Friday, Wamae claimed it took her some time to congratulate Ruto since she was still reading up on various political elites’ opinions regarding the results of the presidential election.
She described the procedure as transparent, pointing out that polling station staff would have reported any suspicious activity at their various locations if it had occurred.
“It has taken me 4 days listening to argument from all quotas on whether IEBC was free, fair and transparent and I can confidently say that the election was transparent because the polling station agents who are supreme in this process would have raised an alarm if the Presiding officer was up to no good,” she said.
“The Returning Officer in the constituency level would have been alarmed and mark you the national tallying centre had no power in determining the outcome of the 2022 Presidential election.”
She criticized political parties that lost in the election and have since challenged the results, claiming that doing so will only serve to alienate the general public from the electoral process.
She cited the Roots Party, whose presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoyah and she jointly ran for, as an example of a political organization that has contested the results and accused them of being rigged.
“So when I see some parties like Roots Party who as a member can confidently say we were disorganized in regards to agents mobilization stating that votes were stolen is simply preposterous,” noted Wamae.
“As a future leader, we need to stop bashing our institutions which in turn will translate to inciting the public against constitutionally mandated institutions.”
She added: “To our supporters 61,969 is no mean feat, do not lose hope, what you did made a difference and building on itself will go into make a difference in future.”
Wamae congratulated Ruto and his vice president-elect Rigathi Gachagua on winning the presidency and urged Kenyans to accept them as their new leaders so that they can look to the future.
She also promised to work with Gachagua and Ruto to help them move the nation forward.
“William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua are going to be our President and Deputy President respectively and I pray that our wonderful peaceful people of Kenya will accept the verdict,” she stated.
“Congratulations Ruto and Rigathi on your victory. As the representative of the Kenyan youth I will support in any way I can to achieve a financially secure Kenya that is dignified across the globe. God bless you and your families as you undertake your new responsibility.”
