IG Mutyambai Takes A Sick Leave and Names His Deputy As Acting Inspector General Until His Return
Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai has taken a sick leave of absence, according to the National Police Service.
IG Mutyambai said in a statement that until he heals, his subordinate Edward would be in charge of the police department.
“This is to inform the general public that I will be away from office attending to a medical checkup effective today, 26th August 2022.
“In my absence, Mr. Noor Gabow, the Deputy Inspector General – Administration Police Service will act as the Inspector General of the National Police Service until my return,” he said.
It is still unclear if IG Mutyambai is the senior police official. Due to legal and moral considerations, the high-ranking police officer’s identify was withheld.
According to the article, the incident happened on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
A senior ranking police officer fell and was taken to the hospital, according to an article in The Standard published hours earlier.
“The Standard understands that he was admitted to the high dependency unit (HDU). The HDU is a specialist ward providing intensive care (treatment and monitoring) for critically ill people,” the media house reported.
A family member reported that the officer was responding well to treatment
