IEBC Specialist Resurface After Being Reported Missing Three Days Before
Japhet Dibo, an IT officer for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has surfaced three days after being reported missing on August 18.
Dibo was kidnapped by unidentified individuals on the night of the day he was reported missing (Thursday, August 18), according to his attorney, Trevor Lichuma.
After his disappearance was reported to the authorities on Friday, August 19, at 2:00 p.m., the kidnappers would free him.
Dibo’s wife, Flora Aluoch, reported the incident to Kilimani Police Station, saying that he had left his office in the company of an unknown individual at the KISM Towers in Nairobi County and failed to come home.
She filed a report about it with the police under O/B number 39/19/08/2022, indicating that her husband was last seen sporting a light blue shirt and a pair of navy blue pants.
Dibo served as an information technology consultant for the team hired by the IEBC to work on the elections in August.
“Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating the matter and we hope they will get to the bottom of it all,” Dibo’s lawyer, Trevor Lichuma stated.
The owner of Dial Africa, an IT expert, was the second IEBC-connected officer to go missing in less than a week.
