IEBC Returning Officer Geoffrey Gitobu Dies Mysteriously In Kirinyaga Constituency
Geoffrey Gitobu, the IEBC returning officer for the Gichugu constituency in Kirinyaga County, collapsed and passed away.
Geoffrey Gitobu, the IEBC returning officer for Kirinyaga county’s Gichugu constituency, has passed away.
The cause of Gitobu’s death has not yet been determined, according to information that reached the news desk. He slumped and died in front of the IEBC officials in Nanyuki, Laikipia county.
The IEBC official reportedly went to the IEBC offices to print certain documents when he was visiting his relatives in Nanyuki.
He was taken by ambulance to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, where doctors immediately declared him dead.
Elections officer for Kirinyaga County Jane Gitonga stated that her coworker was expected back at work on Wednesday, August 23.

The head of the Loitoktok police, Kipruto Ruto, stated that Mbolu’s body had been discovered abandoned in a Kajiado jungle.
His sisters Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya positively recognized the remains at the Loitokitok sub-county mortuary.
The police chief noted that although no documents were found at the site, the body also displayed signs of struggle and torture.
As an IEBC presiding officer in Wajir County, Mohammed Kanyare has accused IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati of deserting him after he suffered gunshot wounds that required him to amputate his leg.
Kanyare claimed that despite being hurt while performing his official duties, neither Chebukati nor the commission had contacted him as of Sunday night.
“I have not heard from the commission that I was working for since they left me unattended to. Even a ‘sorry’ from them would have been better.
“I have no communication from the commission neither has any of my family members has heard from the commission that I was hurt working for,” Kanyare lamented.
Kanyare claimed that just prior to the shooting, he was ready to hand Forms 34A to the returning officer when someone breaking into the building pretended to be police officers.
He was shot at close range during the chaos that ensued when the electricity was cut.
