IEBC Officials Arraigned In Court Over Mishandling Of Election Materials
In court on Friday, three Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) workers were charged with careless handling of election materials during the General Election on Tuesday.
In Marsabit County, in the Laisamis Constituency Tallying Centre, Esokon Bernard, John Nabian, and Ekori Albert were stationed. It is alleged that they left election materials there after polls closed.
The three allegedly refused to upload Forms 34A to the IEBC portal as required and did not accompany the paperwork to the tallying center, according to the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The three were accused of violating official duties when they appeared before the court on Friday. The case’s plea-taking was postponed, and now the subject is scheduled to be discussed in Isiolo on Monday, August 15.
