IEBC Has Started The Distribution Of Poll Materials Countrywide
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will make the official voter register accessible to all polling stations on Tuesday, August 2, so that registered voters can confirm their identification before to the election on Tuesday.
According to IEBC Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, who addressed the media on Monday, the register must be displayed at each voting place by Tuesday night.
The 46,299 polling places that the IEBC has declared will be used for the election will receive them.
“Today we have started distribution of strategic materials to the counties. Remember seven days to the polls we affix the voter register outside the polling station and so this exercise will begin tomorrow and by end of business tomorrow we will have concluded the exercise,” said Cherera.
Ms. Cherera added, owing to the early closure of schools as announced by Education CS George Mahoga, that the commission will expect a seamless exercise.
She said that the closure of schools is an integral part of the elections as most of them will be used as polling stations.
“We are happy that the Ministry of Education has announced the closure of schools to be tomorrow as it allows us to access the polling stations,” Cherera stated.
The IEBC provided qualified individuals with the chance to confirm in May that their biometric information was accurately recorded in the registry.
Anyone who had issues with their data could submit a claim to the Registration Officer at any IEBC office nationwide within the allotted time frame while presenting a valid identity card or passport.
Other crucial materials, like as vote boxes and papers, have already started to be distributed, according to the IEBC, and will reach each voting location by August 6.
All ballots for the governorship, the senate, the MP, and the MCA have so far arrived and are being kept in the commission’s warehouse.
Only one shipment of presidential ballots has arrived, and the final delivery is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3.
IEBC has promised the elections will be carried out in a transparent manner
