IEBC Declares William Ruto The 5th President Of Kenya
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has pronounced William Samoei Arap Ruto to be the legitimately elected President of Kenya.
On Monday, August 15, 2022, Wafula Chebukati, the chairman of the IEBC, made the declaration at the Bomas of Kenya.
He said that Mr. Ruto had obtained the necessary number of votes to satisfy constitutional requirements after receiving 6,173,433 votes, or 50.07 percent of the total votes cast, and 25 percent in 32 of Kenya’s 47 counties.
Mr. Chebukati gave Mr. Ruto the certificate of presidential results as his supporters erupted in applause.
He was accompanied by the designate First Lady, Rachel Ruto, and deputy president-elect Rigathi Gachagua.
Drama existed before Mr. Ruto was crowned the victor.
Saitabao Ole Kanchuri, the chief representative of presidential candidate Raila Odinga, hinted that the IEBC’s (Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) technology used to count the results of the presidential campaign had been corrupted before the formal announcement by the electoral body.
