“I Only Want To Be Told The Truth” Raila Odinga Says Concerning The Presidential Election Results
Raila Odinga, a presidential candidate for Azimio la Umoja, has stated that he is interested in learning the truth about the events surrounding the general election on August 9 and the vote counting procedure.
On Sunday, Raila said he is seeking the truth to ensure that there is justice, peace, and reconciliation during a sermon at a church in Kibra.
“For there to be reconciliation, truth must be known, where is the truth?” Raila posed.
The leader of Azimio accused the commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of not speaking with one voice.
He questioned if the IEBC factions led by Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi, and Irene Masit or those led by Wafula Chebukati, Abdi Guliye, and Boya Molu can be trusted.
“Are the three saying the truth or it is the four? Where is the truth? Between the two groups of commissioners, somewhere there is the truth. What I am asking for as Raila Amollo Odinga is to be told the truth,” he said.
“It is a shame to democracy, shame to the world. These are things we do not want to see, they are trying to stage a civilian coup to subvert the will of the people. Kenyans will not allow it,” he added.
Raila asked the Supreme Court to deliver justice, saying that he will accept the outcomes, as long as it is truthful.
“I do not fear, if I lost I will say I lost. And I will go home. But where is the truth? I am sure I did not lose, I will stand firm, and I will not be shaken,” Raila said.
