Haiya! Kwani Nyinyi Ni Marafiki; Kenyans Flabbergasted As Raila And Ruto Meet And Shake Hands
Patience Johnson likely anticipated the unpredictable events that frequently shake the political landscape. He came up with the generally accepted idea that neither permanent allies nor adversaries exist in politics.
Locally, numerous cases have supported the claim as political rivals have been seen enjoying themselves while others have reconciled with their former adversaries.
Deputy President William Ruto and the leader of the ODM, Raila Odinga, have been considered to be each other’s fiercest political adversaries.
The rivalry has been transferred to their respective fervent supporters, who constantly demonstrate their willingness to engage in combat as the political stakes mount.
But whenever they share a stage, the two have presented their friendship as the best of friends, confusing their devoted fans. The front-runners for the August 9 presidential election, Raila and Ruto, have each threatened to engage in a titanic brawl on election day.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was hosting a meeting with potential presidential candidates on Wednesday, June 26, where the two leaders met.
There was evidence of them mingling, supporting the idea that there are neither permanent allies nor foes in politics.
As they dined together, Kenyans began to argue that politicians intentionally sow discord among their constituents in order to advance their own political objectives.
Ruto previously acknowledged that the ODM leader would be a worthy rival in the 2022 presidential election.
Despite his advancing years, according to Ruto, the former prime minister understands how to reinvent himself with each political cycle.
Ruto claims that he and Raila are the key protagonists in the present political scene and labels everyone else as “jokers.”
“I have a measured respect for Tinga because at least he tries to keep a national party despite age catching up with him. But these other characters are just jokers running a party for 15 years and getting smaller by the day yet still posing as party leaders” he said.
