Five People Caught With Weapons At Homabay Talling Centre Arrested
Five people who planned to obstruct the ongoing tallying process in Homa Bay town and Kabondo Kasipul constituencies were detained by police in Homa Bay on Wednesday night.
In addition, the authorities found other guns and a tear gas canister.
Security personnel in Homa Bay town detained four guys who were standing close to Tom Mboya University, the county tallying center, and were carrying knives, clubs, and a tear gas canister.
According to Sammy Koskey, the Homa Bay Sub-county Police Commander, the suspects were apprehended by police while they were 500 meters from the county tallying center’s gate and were in possession of guns when they were escorted to the Homa Bay police station.
A suspect in Kabondo Kasipul attempted to enter the constituency tallying center at Ringa Boys High School and police found a handmade gun on him.
Police officers guarding the center gate approached the suspect who was with another male.
The two men, who identified themselves as security and a chief agent of one of the MCA applicants, reportedly walked to the school.
