Evans Kebwaro,The Nakuru Suspected Serial Killer Has Been Arrested
Along with five of his associates, the primary suspect suspected of being responsible for the recent string of killings in Mawanga, Nakuru County, has been detained.
Evans Michori Kebwaro, the suspect, was located by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and captured on Thursday in Keroka, Kisii County.
When questioned, the ex-convict identified Makhoha Wanjala, Dennis Mmbolo, Isaac Kinyanjui, Julius Otieno, Josphat Simiyu, and Josphat Simiyu as members of his group.
In accordance with a presidential directive, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, convened a high-level security meeting in Nakuru just 24 hours prior to the arrest.
Preliminary investigations, according to the DCI, show that Kebwaro is a fugitive from justice and is accountable for at least three murders that occurred in the Mawanga region and its surroundings between June 15 and June 24 of this year and were reported to the Kiugoine police station.
Detectives claimed that in the daytime killings of women, the victims would first be raped before being strangled and then burned alive.
The DCI reports that on June 14, 2022, Grace Wanjiku, 20,’s body was discovered in Kiamaina, Nakuru North Sub County. Seven days later, Susan Wambui, a middle-aged woman, was discovered dead in her bedroom at a Kiamaina home along with her 3-year-old child who had been rescued from the wreckage.
Following a string of senseless killings, 23-year-old Diana Opicho was discovered in cold blood in the same location as the most recent murder. The tragedy sparked online indignation.
The DCI claims that Kebwaro has since admitted to killing seven further individuals, and investigators have found him at the scene of three other homicides.
“The monster has confessed to killing 7 people in cold blood and so far, detectives have managed to place him at the scene of three murders through cutting-edge forensic technology,” said the DCI.
The six suspects will now undergo a thorough forensic investigation and interrogation at the DCI headquarters.
In the interim, police have provided people in Nakuru with assurances of their safety, and an operation is presently under way to catch additional individuals responsible for the cold-blooded killings.
