Esther Passaris Won Nairobi Women Rep Seat
In a fiercely contested race, Nairobi woman representative Esther Muthoni Passaris successfully defended her seat.
Passaris, who was running on an ODM ticket, received 698,929 votes after that.
With a total of 586,246 votes, her major challenger Millicient Omanga of the UDA finished in second place.
With 17,811 votes, Monica Gitau received the fewest votes, followed by Delvin Moraa (7,832), Mary Musuki (5,383), and Brenda Kangai (5,383). (7,018)
Passaris gave a speech after obtaining her clearing certificate from the Nairobi County Returning Officer. She thanked her supporters for voting her into the County MP seat and committed to devotedly serve the people of Nairobi.
She also lauded Kenyans for keeping calm during the polls and urged them to remain steadfast even after the presidential winner is announced.
“I want to thank everyone in my Azimio team and all the voters in Nairobi. We will work tirelessly to serve all of you. When we get into office we will only care on delivering the promises we made and we are guided by the manifesto of the Azimio family,” she said.
“We are grateful to all of you for maintaining the peace during the election period and we pray that the same peace will be maintained even after the president is announced.”
