Eric Omondi And 16 Others Play Not Guilty To Unlawful Protest
Eric Omondi, the self-proclaimed president of Comedy in Africa, has pleaded not guilty to unlawful assembly together with 16 others.
They were accused of participating in an unauthorized assembly in violation of Criminal Code sections 78 (1) and 79.
The accused informed the court on Wednesday, through their counsel, that they went to parliament to find a solution to the current high cost of living, and that they represent over 50 million Kenyans who are suffering.
They were released on cash bond of 10,000 shillings apiece, pending a pre-trial hearing on March 6.
Omondi was arrested on Tuesday while leading protests outside Nairobi’s Parliament buildings.
