DPP To Decide Fate For 10, Ksh. 67M Worth Gold Scam Suspects
The fate of ten individuals linked to a Ksh.67 million gold scam is now in the hands of DPP Noordin Haji.
This comes after the suspects appeared in court on Monday but did not enter pleas because a police file had been given to the DPP’s office for consideration before deciding whether or not to charge them.
Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu ordered that the case be mentioned on March 6 for the DPP to confirm the next steps.
The magistrate also prolonged the accused’ previous cash bail of Ksh.100,000 each until further orders are issued.
Eight Kenyans, one Greek, and one Indian national are among the suspects.
They are police officer Samuel Wathika Gathuru, Patroba Odhiambo Tobias, Elisha Mbadi Kimbero, Teddy Samora Kowino, Loaennis Kaisarios, Mugabe Patrick Biriko, Seth Steve Okute, Bruno Otieno Oliende, and Collins Kiprotich Lang’at.
According to court documents, Okute is a political leader who ran for the Karachuonyo parliamentary seat on an ODM party ticket in 2022, while Oliende ran as an Independent candidate for the Suna East Parliamentary seat in Migori County.
