DP William Ruto Held A Meeting With AU-COMESA Election Observers At His Home Karen
At his residence in Karen on Friday, Deputy President William Ruto had a meeting with the African Union-COMESA Election Observer Mission.
Three days after Kenyans cast their ballots in the fiercely disputed General Election, Ernest Bai Koroma, a former president of Sierra Leone, presided over the gathering.
The former presidents of Burundi and Ethiopia, Domituen Ndayizeye and Mulatto Teshome, as well as ambassador Marie-Pierre Lloyd, were also present.
The DP said on Twitter that the mission congratulated Kenya and voters on a peaceful election.
“At the Karen Office, held a meeting with the AU-COMESA Election Observer Mission who congratulated Kenya and voters for a peaceful election” DP Ruto Tweeted.
The public has yet to be informed of the presidential election results, despite the fact that all independent tallies by Kenyan media outlets appear to have ceased.
Presidential agents, according to the IEBC, have significantly slowed down the process and Wafula Chebukati, the commission’s head, has warned them against questioning the returning officers.
“We’re not moving as fast as we should. This process should be concluded as soon as possible. We advise that agents cannot proceed in the manner that which we are proceeding, its as if we are doing a forensic audit,” said Chebukati.
“Please do not interrogate the returning officer. If there are any cases of disruption we shall remove you from this tallying centre.”
